In a blink of an eye, July has arrived! Singaporean Peranakan Restaurant, Martina's Kitchen, is the first establishment to engage Solune for its regular live music entertainment since our inception last October. We have been performing almost every Saturday there for a wonderful audience since January, and celebrated numerous birthdays with the patrons.
We are pleased to announce that our live music residency at the restaurant has been extended for another three months, up till the end of September 2025! So do make some time to check out the place and join us for an evening of live music soon!

About Martina's Kitchen & The Oval
Tucked away in the far north of Singapore, Martina's Kitchen is located at 8 The Oval, Seletar Aerospace Park, in a cosy, colonial-style bungalow.
The first thing you'll notice arriving up north is the fresh, humid breeze. You'll be surrounded by greenery a stone's throw away from Lower Seletar Reservoir. See if you can spot some of the heritage trees from the 1930s littered throughout park and the flocks of Red-breasted Parakeets flying overhead during dusk!
Martina's Kitchen, named after Grandma Martina, describes itself as a modern and healthier twist on heritage Peranakan recipes, and NOT a fusion restaurant. The interior of the heritage home may make you feel like you've just stepped onto the set of local drama, The Little Nyonya. The well-decorated restaurant and attentive, hospitable staff all adds to the calming homeliness of the ambience.
The menu features a myriad of traditional Peranakan dishes, perfect for family-style sharing. Round off your meal with an assorted plate of nyonya kueh, exclusively made in-house on the weekends. They also feature a substantial Western-style menu that will surely please the kids!
For those who enjoy a drink, ask for their wine and whiskey menu! There's plenty of parking, and a number of pubs and restaurants nearby (e.g. YOUNGS Restaurant, Wheeler's Estate, Nomads) featuring live music as well. You can indulge in a short stroll after dinner and then hop on to these other destinations to enjoy a night cap. At last, busk in the peace and quiet of the whole park after the music dies down...

Live Music at Martina's Kitchen
Solune is in its full, duo outfit at Martina's - Ze on guitar and vocals, Sheena on keyboards and vocals. This allows us to cover a huge range of songs, from soothing classics (e.g. Gilbert O'Sullivan, Carpenters) to mando/canto pop ballads . Our penchant for trading solos during songs also adds another layer of musical excitement to the performance.
Our curated playlist for Martina's Kitchen embraces their philosophy of blending tradition with modernity. We programme timeless classics alongside songs from the 90s-2000s (emo rock, boybands, MLTR etc) to engage the older generation as well as the parents in the crowd who are typically around our age!
We've also been enjoying the song requests from the customers there. Interesting ones like "The Music of the Night" from Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera and songs in other languages like Bahasa Indonesia. Of course, we throw in a "Let It Go" from Frozen or "APT" here and there keep the little ones engaged and entertained!
In such a localised setting, we do not miss the chance to add to the vibes by busting out our local repertoire and traditional songs like "Di Tanjung Katong" and "Ru Yan (如燕)" which perfectly adds to the nyonya flavour of the setting.
Make your reservations!
The addition of live music elevates the homely atmosphere at Martina's. Saturdays are usually packed with multiple tables of large groups celebrating special occasions, so make your reservations here early: www.martinaskitchen.com.sg.
The restaurant spacious and family-friendly, ensuring that parents can enjoy their meals while their children have ample opportunities to explore and walk around. The bungalow is surrounded by open patches for children to run around. Sparklers can be lit outside for the kids to be entertained while adults continue enjoying their conversations. The combination of a welcoming indoor environment and expansive outdoor spaces makes this restaurant a perfect destination for families looking to create lasting memories while enjoying delicious meals together.
Conclusion: Join us every Saturday for a memorable evening!
Catch us there as duo every Saturday for three sets of live music, 630 - 945pm. We cover a range of family-friendly English classics, rock and pop to Mandarin/ Cantonese favourites, emo rock, and maybe even throw in a couple of originals here and there!
